Friday night. What are you doing?
I was suppose to go to a homeschool support group meeting tonight. We had snow during the morning. They did a great job clearing the roads but temps are dropping...and fast. Right now as I type it is 26 degrees (9 pm). Over the weekend we are expected to have a high temp of 26 and a low of 1. This makes for icy roads. We decided we did not want to take the chance and cancel the meeting.
Chris thought it would be a great night for family fun. WII was in high order. To everyone's surprise, I even played! And you know what.....I had fun doing it!!!
So instead of being on the computer right now I am going to go and play another game and try to beat my VERY competitive 17 year old. I think I am going to have a bowl of ice cream while doing it : )

I Almost Don't Want to Tell You.....
Because you might win instead of me!!! : )-
Raising Olives is doing a give away. She is giving away 2, yes 2 copies of the book "Large Family Logistics". She had mentioned the book earlier in the week on her blog. I was planning on ordering it...But now I am hoping to WIN it!
Go on over and check it out (I bet you will find a blog you love in the process).

Priorities
Today was one of those days. One of those days that the house was a mess, school needed to be done, organization was in order and babies needed tending to. Since Chris was home today I figured my priorities should be in the order as stated above. But I got a gentle reminder that I was focusing on the wrong thing.
The house will become a mess again.
I have many, many years of home schooling ahead of me. While important, it is not as important as......Meet my priorities:
They need a mom who is willing to put them above a clean house, a spelling test and a messy desk.
I have a HUGE range of ages....newborn to young adult. Honestly, I feel that it wasn't long ago that the 17 yr. old looked like the first picture. Where did the time go?
While holding the baby today I looked him in the eyes. He NEEDS me. I NEED him. This is what truly matters.

10 Things about Me
Since this is a new blog and I expect most people who come to my site are new to me, I thought I would tell you 10 things about me:
1. I married the love-of-my-life when I was 18 years old. Tuesday marks our 19th wedding anniversary. I have been married longer than I have been single.
2. During a 10 year period of infertility, we adopted 3 children.
3. I am in my 9th year of homeschooling. My oldest is graduating this year : )
4. I have an Associates Degree in Nursing and worked as a RN for 5 years on a surgical floor.
5. I decided to walk away from nursing to stay home with my children full-time. Have no regrets about this (I do miss the money every once in a while).
6. I live in Massachusetts. If you heard me speak you WOULD be able to tell (but don't mistaken a New England accent for a New York one). For some reason, around here, we mix up our r's and a's. Example: banana is pronounced "bananer" and car is pronounced "caaa". This made for fun times when trying to teach phonics to my kids.
7. I HATE snow. The only time I find it beautiful is on a postcard. But in all fairness, I have to admit, I don't like extremes in temps. I hate 90 degree weather as much as I hate 30 degrees. 70 is perfect.
8. I will admit, I like control. I like lists and check things off as I go. God has been working with me in this area. Case in point---being put on bed rest for the last 3 weeks of pregnancy. If that wasn't bad enough, we moved that week and I had to depend on others to pack, move, clean unpack and put things away. I am STILL trying to find things.
9. My favorite food is ice cream, followed closely by chocolate. Yes, both count as food.
10. My favorite show is "The Amazing Race".

New Blog!!
I finally did it! I started a new blog! : )
While I still have LOTS of work to do on it (design and such), I wanted to get it up and going.
"Why the new blog?" you may ask. Well, I originally started my other blog (originally named My Adventures in Homeschooling) as a way to write about homeschooling. I found that I have many other interests I would like to write about. I could change the name, but not the web address. I decided it was time for a change all around to reflect my interests and growing family.
So here we are. Seven is Heaven! You wondering where the name came from? The other day a friend was over and we were talking about family size. I mentioned how I never expected to have 7 children. She then made a comment to me about how she use to love the show 7th Heaven and how it had 7 kids.
That is when it hit me.....Seven is Heaven! : )
It might not be original, but it is cute!
What am I going to write about?
Short answer----LIFE!
Long answer---God, marriage, kids, homeschooling, cooking (or atleast my attempt at it), household management, surviving having 7 kids....I think you get the idea. My life with with 7 blessings from God. I will share the good, the bad and the OH so VERY ugly.
One last thing---if you know of a good resource, either through internet or book, about HTML codes and web design could you pass it along. Thanks!
